Toaster bought 3 weeks ago

Hiya.

I bought a toaster from Sainsbury's 3 weeks ago and this morning went to use it and it wouldn't work.
Half the houses electrics went off and I had to reset the trip

Of course I binned the receipt and before I go back (its 10 miles away) I need to know what to say when they say "oh we can't do anything as you haven't got a receipt"

Cheers

    Have you checked the fuse?

Is it Sainsburys branded, or do you have any other proof of purchase such as a credit card statement?

In that case, you have no legal right to a remedy. However I find Sainsburys to be pretty generous, so it would be worth giving them a call to see what they say?

You could try buying the same appliance, and taking the broken one back with the new receipt.
