Hi, guys, I'm a first time poster and not too familiar yet with the site so please bear with me if i'm posting in the wrong place. To cut a long story short, I made various claims for PPI refunds but nearly all have been rejected, Egg because they calim its on a closed account, barclays who say they cant find details although on the phone the customer advicor told me i had paid PPI for 4 years on my mortgage but they couldnt locate details.
I'm not sure what to do now - really sorry for being lame but I;m nto very organised or good at this kind of thing as it is and its makign it difficult for me to carry on. I convinced a friend to claim and sent off a letter for him and he got over £7,000 back so I'm nto sure what I did wrong for me. On the plus side, he is debt free for the first time in his life now becuase of this and this gives me a bit of hope

If the lender no longer holds records and you no longer hold records then its game over. If you dont believe them you can always spend £10 and do a data subject access request.so I'm nto sure what I did wrong for me.
It is all about timescale. The further back you go in time, the less likely paperwork will exist. In the case of mortgages, most MPPI is standalone or put in place via an intermediary. It is one of the reasons why most MPPI complaints get rejected. It also means that the records are not typically with the mortgage documents.
Again, if you dont believe them, spend another £10 for a DSAR.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. thank you for your reply, it was very helpful. Can I do a DSAR for the individual account? I did a DSAR which actually said there was PPI on the policy but no other details. It is a while back. I dont belive the company as the advisor told me that I definately paid PPI for 4 years but they couldnt find records. i know people dont reccomend using a company to do the claims but thinking I may as well consider it?0

Claims companys only work with the info you give them, they do no more than you can do yourself,0

If you have done a DSAR already then you have what they have.I dont belive the company as the advisor told me that I definately paid PPI for 4 years but they couldnt find records.
If you have done a DSAR then you can see what they have. Whilst it is possible to get some info (such as actually having the product) it does not mean that there is enough to show it was mis-sold.i know people dont reccomend using a company to do the claims but thinking I may as well consider it?
Claims companies use the same free of charge complaints process you do. They just charge you for it. They do nothing extra. They need you to supply the information.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. You can't use a company anyway because you can only make a complaint once.
