Hi, I can recommend Cannon. From my experience (a very long story involving the press), avoid Stoves and other cookers which are branded otherwise but owned by them.
We have this cooker - we saved a fortune by buuying online too.

I would avoid Beko
Just returned mine after 3 cooking attempts on it :mad:Sometimes I wake up grumpy, other times I let him sleep !:rotfl:0 -
Found an oven we liked in currys for £1200, googled the model and got it for £850 online - it was a stoves but have had no problems at all and is great looking!

Cannon is owned by The Indesit Company, we just love them (NOT!).
They also own several other brands, notably, Hotpoint and Indesit. Expensive spares and zero technical information, they do give a 5 year parts warranty but they will charge you £90 to turn up... whenever really.
It depends what you want to spend TBH what I'd recommend and also what sort of cooker it is that you are looking for. Fair warning though, good gas cookers are not cheap, especially range ones.

I like Cannon, we have a Camberley (double oven) and it's lasted around 5 years so far with no problems.0

Yeah I know, they're not the worst or at least haven't been and in fact were pretty decent, but Mr Merloni has a hand in the affair now and has had since about 2005.

thanks everyone!
we have been looking at the cannon lichfield model. in a review it says it comes without a connecting hose, that cant be right surely. i mean you would be in a situation of having no cooker to use until you manage to get someone to fit a hose wouldnt you?
we dont have the money for a really decent cooker. anyway all we want is for it to work properly and last a decent length of time. we are looking at paying around £300. it seems we would have to pay another £100 on top of that to get it delivered and fitted. that is putting us off a bit. it is a rip off. well imagine if you were buying one of the cookers that cost less than £200 you would be paying almost as much for installation as you would for the cooker itself.0 -
They don't give you a connecting hose since only a qualified gas installer is allowed to fit it.0

just incase anyone is interested. we ended up getting the cannon oakley model. it seems to be a decent cooker and easy to use. they were quick installing it and did everything they are supposed to and were very friendly. it is still a rip off charging £100 for installation though.0
