same here,
I would rather have floorboards , messy or not , but you will be surprised how many houses we have looked at and the floorboards (I always look) have never seen daylight, so are like new0 -
The house has floorboards - seem to be in good condition from what I've seen so far.
I agree with you moneyistooshorttomention and you sum up the two arguments for and against well, I just keep swinging between the two points of view!
Time for a family conference I think and a final decision once the house has been completely cleared and painted.
Thanks for all your thoughts.0 -
This is probably not going to help, but I dislike carpets and bare floorboards equally
The former for reasons of cleaning/hygiene and the latter because of poor insulation, draughts, and spiders crawling in through the gaps
I am saving up to have good quality solid wood flooring put in everywhere in my house except kitchen and bathrooms (where I have opted for Marmoleum in absolutely gorgeous colours).
As a buyer I'd prefer bare floorboards (so I can see the state of them) to cheap/nasty carpets. Worst case would be the seller fitting expensive carpets costing thousands, and expecting me to pay for them in my offer, when I will only proceed to have them removed in the near future.0
