Suggestions for hotel in Egypt red sea - on the beach?

Morning everyone!
Me and my partner are looking for 2 weeks AI package holiday in Egypt, in October for around £700pp. There are lots of options around this price but we are really having trouble finding something with the beach location we want.
We are very big on snorkelling and diving and want to be as close to the beach as possible. Its more important to us than the state of the room or food  A lot of hotels seem to say they are and then actually be a shuttle away, or a resort that is beachside but looks like a 10 min walk to the beach?
Wondering if anyone has any recommendations?
Grand Plaza Sharm seems closest to what we want so far, but from reviews some of the blocks are 10 mins away :rotfl:
Thanks!

Are you able to predict what the riot situation in Egypt will be in a few month's time? Sharm may be ok today, but that doesn't mean it will stay that way, even if it does you may find Sharm hotels are half empty and half staffed..................
....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)0 -
We aren't worried about it to be honest, I highly doubt it will reach Sharm. Before booking we will make sure if it does, that the agent will let us switch the holiday. Its a risk I'd agree but we are happy to take it.
Thanks

For direct access to the sea, the 2 best I have stayed in are both Hiltons but neither of them in Sharm - Hilton Nuweiba and the Hilton Taba Village.
I've stayed in a couple at Naama Bay with their own bit of beach but you have to cross over the public pedestrian promenade to get to it - Sonesta Beach and Hilton Fayrouz.
I've also stayed at the Hyatt Regency at Taba Heights which has own beach but was ill for 10 days out of 14 and everyone was dropping like flies so wouldn't recommend it.0 -
Hi We stayed at the Reef Oasis Blue Bay resort in Sharm. It is on the beach. You have to use a jetty to get into the sea. The variety of fish was amazing. We booked with Thomson. Read reviews on trip advisor. They are very helpful.0

i have stayed here and my son has just came back, its a fabulous hotel but op only wants to spend £700 for 2 weeks, i doubt £700 would cover 1 week in october at the reef oasis blue bayHi We stayed at the Reef Oasis Blue Bay resort in Sharm. Have a look at the Fort Arabesque in Makadi Bay, Hurghada area. You can snorkel directly from the beach with no need for a jetty. The snorkelling was excellent when we were there. Food and hotel are also both good.:beer:0

I've never been to Egypt but I looked into going a few years back and I nearly booked a holiday in Marsa Alam. It's on the west coast of the Red Sea, and is also within day-tripping distance of Luxor and the Nile.0

OP,
You will probably struggle. I wanted the same thing (and not AI) and the general consensus was that being really close to the beach generally didn't happen, there was always walks through the resorts due to the size.
I've not long come back from the Hilton Marsa Alam and the beach was a 7 minute walk from our room but access to the sea was a further 5 min walk round the bay.
That said, the diving was probably the best I have come across, definitely better than the Maldives and the snorkeling was also pretty good if you were happy to go further out - guitar sharks, stingways, stone fish, lion fish, batfish....we saw it all and the coral is very colourful.
Very happily married on 10th April 2013

I went to the Sultan Gardenss hotel in Sharm in February. Lovely hotel, great staff and on beach. http://www.sultangardens.com/
We paid for flights (Monarch) and hotel (via hotel) separately as it was cheaper but you can get a package deal with Thomas Cook, Asda travel, lowcotsholidays, co-operative travel.0
