Status of credit file

I have just been cleanin up my file as best I can by removing defaults that there were incorrect and generally making all payments on time and credit limits paid off every month.
I have improved my experian score from 530 to 920 in six months and show as in the GOOD region, but I do still have a default on my file, just one that is almost 5 years old.
The question is as I show in the GOOD category but have 1 old default how Do lenders see me, I am likely to get a loan or a credit card if I wanted one.
Many Thanks.
Lee.

There's no such thing as an individual credit score so take NO notice of that Meanigless score Experian has flogged ya as lenders don't see that score nor would they give a monkeys as they'll score you themselves.
Having a default on your account is a negative for lenders but the older it is the slightly better.0 -
If the default is satisfied some lenders might see you as as safe enough bet now, but others could have the appearance of any default flagged as a policy rule. These work alongside credit scoring to fast-track a decision if certain criteria are met. Best bet is to ask any lender you're interested in applying to whether the default would be an issue for them.

I am an official company representative of Experian. MSE has given permission for me to post in response to queries about the company, so that I can help solve issues. You can see my name on the companies with permission to post list. I am not allowed to tout for business at all. If you believe I am please report it to forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com This does NOT imply any form of approval of my company or its products by MSE"

Credit scoring when making an application is done by a Computer so I yet to see how the OP is going to make contact with the Computer system as its a sure bet any customer service staff wouldn't have a clue what credit scoring is let alone how their computer system works.0
