Boycott Pedigree Chum???

Apparently the owners (Royal Canin) had ".....no idea....." of their involvement in bear baiting - a horrific 'sport'.

Time to switch brands starting today.

This has been up on Facebook and online in a number of newspapers. Disgusting.

Mars own Royal Canin ( just bought two 10 kg bags of cat food unfortunately. Opened and mixed in a large feeding bin), so its is Mars you really need to write to and boycott.

Why? They have condemned the 'sport', apologised for whatever their involvement might have been and offered to build a bear refuge. What else do you expect them to do?
loose does not rhyme with choose but lose does and is the word you meant to write.

I buy Royal Canin Renal but I shan't buy any more until I see confirmed reports saying Royal Canin have sacked staff who approved the sponsorship and have paid money to treat the wounded bears & dogs ..... and bought the bears from the owners and pay for the bears to live in a kind, spacious sanctuary for the rest of their lives.

This is just as bad as the Iams cruel lab tests on cats and dogs.

What's the matter with these companies! Are the staff crazy!

I'm running out of brands to buy. Hills - I'll try your KD next. Please don't tell me you have any hidden nasty secrets.

Great idea, upset my cats who have been on royal canin for 5 years for a non story, well the Mars connection bit is, not the horrible bear bating.

Clearly its a screwup by some local marketing agency, and Mars dont support bear baiting and no doubt they will feel compelled to throw a load of resources at bears in that region.

Go for Burns, Naturediet or even try a raw diet.

Hills ain't in it for the animals either. More money for those nice vets that feature on the packaging ;)

    Thanks.

I wish I could go for the raw diet but my boy's 15 and has to have a Renal diet (low protein) for kidney disease.

I'll check whether Burns & Naturediet do a Renal version.

He'll certainly be glad of the change. It gets boring for him.

My old puss was on a raw diet so I know how easy it is. I'll certainly do raw for my next cat. I guess you have to start them on it young before they get set in their ways.
