I would imagine £5K is a reasonable amount to offer in this situation. More importantly than the money, you need to make sure that your name is properly removed from the mortgage, otherwise if your ex stops paying the mortgage provider can come to you for the payments. I believe you will need a solicitor to do this, and I think you should use a different one to your ex to ensure there is no conflict of interest.0
