Veritas 8 Alarm problem

We recently had a power failure and the alarm activated. We were unable to silence the alarm using our code. Eventually when the alarm silenced and the power came back on it left the blue flashing light on the box outside and an alarm when opening the door, approx 10 bleeps which gets faster, this then stops leaving no lights illuminated on the control box. We have been unable to set or reset since this occurred.
We have tried the options in the user manual.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

The panel processor may have locked up. Also, if the alarm activated during a power failure, that may indicate that the back-up battery inside the panel needs replacing.
Have you tried the default codes: 1234 or 4321
followed by the Reset button to reset the strobe and system?
Is the power light flashing on the panel?
How competent are you with electrics?
You may need to try powering it down completely in the first instance and powering it back up if the above doesn't work.If my post hasn't helped you, then don't click the 'Thanks' button!0 -
Thankyou for your reply.
Yes we have tried both default codes neither of which work. Have read on other forums about the battery so we are going to try replacing in the first instant and then go down the other routes.0
