Smelly sofa, suggestions that actually work?

Like a silly fool, I just got a sofa of eBay, but neglected to ask the seller if they were a smoker. Never occurred to me given how conscientious they'd been by washing the cushions beforehand.
Its fabric, some possibly leatherette.
Can anyone recommend a good cleaner (I'm not averse to giving it a proper scrub, & it'll have plenty of time to dry this week) and/or spray. e.g., does the new Febreeze stuff that they claim is good for fabric too, actually do the job?
Any help greatly appreciated!

Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.

Arguing with idiots is like playing chess with a pigeon: no matter how good you are at chess, its just going to knock over the pieces and strut around like its victorious.
