Supermarket/costco cakes help please

Has anybody had one of these recently and if so, can you give me an idea of the cost and size?
I've driven myself mad looking on the net for links, and of course, was only asked for the information once the shops had closed for the day.
I know I can ring them first thing but if anyone has any info before then, that would be great.

Thank you!

Do you mean the Costco large birthday cakes? If so they're approximately £12 I think - double if not treble the size of a large supermarket birthday cake - maybe 24" by 12"and twice as tasty :D. Really good value for money if you're catering for a lot of people

Catering for about 100, so trying to keep the cost to less than the £5 a head quoted by the venue.
So, I take it you just womble into Costco with you card and order what you want, then?
    £12 is exceptional value!

You can order what you like or they have some on sale (non personalised) off the shelf.

I can personally recommend the chocolate fudge cake (good served warm with ice cream or cream if possible!) and the carrot cake seemed to go down well at a recent work do :)
  • I agree about the choc fudge cake and carrot cake. Ive also used the birthday cake which is great for large numbers. You can have it personalised if you give them notice (24 hours I think). They also do Victoria sponge and apple pies in the large size which go down well.

I am gaining weight just thinking about them (sigh)......:o

The cheesecakes are fabulous too - Can't remember exact cost - approx £8-£9 but they served approx 20?

Think it will need to be personalised cakes, otherwise it is the sort of pudding the venue can provide.
Thanks all for your help - puts a much better spin on the costings.

large costco cakes are £13, we have just finished off the large choc fudge cake tonight and its blimmin good! £8 and would serve poss 20 as only need small slice as very rich and chocolatey! i think you would easily get 50 servings from one of the big cakes, maybe more. ive never had one but will get one for my kids birthdays this year. the muffins are very good too, very large, 12 for £5.50, scones are fab aswell, £4 for 24. they do large tray pizzas for £6 aswell. can get a large 16" cooked one for takeway for under £8 too.

Just buy the regular large costco cakes if you prefer those over the regular vanilla/chocolate sponge of the costco birthday cakes and personalise them yourselves. Just pipe a name or an age on the top.

Nice idea mrcow, but I can barely draw breath, let alone pipe things onto cakes to be seen by the public! lol
I'll be using photographs so that people can recognise what it is supposed to be!
