Small Traders are easy pickings for CC companies and they will (with enough shoving) utilise S.75 to whip the money from the trader as the path of least resistance.

What annoys me about this story is the Great British tradition of having to haggle the price, at any cost.

Even if the exact same vehicle was £1500, your hubby would have agreed to forfeit the warranty if he could buy at £1200...
And that my son, is how to waft a towel!

What annoys me is that it never used to be a Great British tradition. It used to be something you did (or thought you did - the traders were well ahead of the game in reality) in foreign street bazaars on holiday.

I've even had a guy seriously asking if I'll accept £75 for a vintage 9kt gold watch for a "quick cash sale" even after I've explained that the scrap value of the case was £154 at that day's gold price.

What people fail to realise is that anyone who's willing to haggle (and is still in business) has already allowed for what he'll knock off by inflating the ticket price. You've just wasted a lot of your own 9and the trader's) time by getting him back to what would have been on the ticket anyway if everyone stopped acting like they were in an Iraqistan street market!
