Hi guys. .. need your help again...
So this is the situation, my mother in law is living with us, after having many treatments for her cancer and now few years has gone by and she feels like going back to work ,she has cleaning job offer but she doesn't know how to officially go about it,the job would pay maximum 16 hours a week...she wants to move in to her own flat ( rented) so my question is ,if she was to work 16 hours a week to start with, she gets cash in hand,if she was to declare her income of say 70 pound a week would she be able to claim minimum wage benefit and housing benefit or Tax credits to cover her living independently and also if this doesn't work could she claim early retirement she is 57 years old. and if she can claim her early retirement in her Limited capability for work questionnaire she is described as fit for work..
she things she will loose her employment and support allowance so any help from you guys would be great...
I would like to thank you all for your time , you guys are the best..

If she is working and being paid cash in hand both she and her employer are cheating HMRC. They need to declare her earnings and pay the appropriate tax and NI on it. What is she going to say when asked where she got £70 a week from?0

Sixteen hours at minimum wage is closer to £100. If you enter her figures into a benefits calculator this will show what she is entitled to.
I'm not sure what you mean about early retirement - is this a private (occupational) pension she has? If so you would need to check what it says about taking it early.0 -

Loads of free software, or you buy a duplicate book for about £10 for 200 payslips at a stationers.
Or she goes self employed and bills them, lots of ways.
If she's going to look to clean/iron/pet sit or dog walk elsewhere then self employment may be better.0 -
Also she'd get tax credits based on age of 50 and disability element, housing benefit (based on 1 bed rate for your area), council tax help etc. there is a lot of help out there for her.0
