Iceland parking fine

Options
Hi i recently got a ticket for parking in iceland car park. I parked on a sunday night at about 21.30.
I thought that because it was a sunday and late night that they where unable to charge for parking and so did not purchase a ticket. iv now recieved a 60 pound fine in the post from excel parking.
You cannot see from the pictures who was driving. But i want to know if its enforcable or not and if i should just ignore it. or should i write to them and say that i was not driving the car at the time.

Please help and thank you for your time

It's not a 'fine', not likely to be 'enforceable' but you do NOT Ignore it. All you have to do is read any other Excel threads or indeed any other threads on the entire parking forum to see what to do!

Post a simple challenge (1st class snail mail getting free cert of posting at a PO counter) NOT saying who was driving (not denying it either) and of course NOT saying anything about whether the driver paid and displayed:

Excel may well reply with a standard letter saying you have to name the driver but you DO NOT. Pre-empt that by saying at the end of your challenge (as advised on LOTS of Excel threads!!) 'do not send me a standard letter pretending I have to name the driver because I do not. You have to consider my appeal as registered keeper and send me a POPLA code by return or you will be in breach of the BPA Code of Practice.'

Make sure your letter has a general appeal point such as 'the signage was not compliant at that site; the driver contends no signs were visible. I believe the signs you may be relying on were not lit/reflective nor readable in evening light and were lacking in sufficient clarity at the site entrance - and your charge is not indicative of any genuine loss whatsoever.'

Come back and tell us when you eventually prise a POPLA code out of them! You will need help with a stronger appeal wording at POPLA stage.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Can you give the dates of the contravention and the date you received the Notice to Keeper?

I take it there were no notices on the windscreen?

Also, was the sign at the entrance or elsewhere lit sufficiently to enable you to read them in the dark? There were some at the entrance?
