Credit Card Chargeback??

Options
Hi, we put a deposit down on a new motorhome at a show in Shrewsbury in July, we soon realised that the price quoted was way over the new price of the motorhome. We also found that it had been with the dealer since January, and that it had done nearly 900 miles.

We cancelled the order, by email, on the 5th day. We subsequently spoke to the dealer, viewed the motorhome again and told the dealer that we would definitely not be going ahead with the purchase.

My question is, how do we get our deposit back. The dealer is not responding to email, or texts anymore.

Any help would be gratefully appreciated, we are OAP's and can't afford to lose the money.

HI, I am beginning to wonder if I have posted this request on the wrong part of the forum, if I have, could someone please suggest where it should be posted. I have not used a forum before and am unsure how these things work.

How much was the deposit, and the total cost of the motor home?

What did the contract say about return of deposit?

Deposits are invariably a promise to complete - if you back out, then the deposit is forfeit. A chargeback would be refused as there was no tangible goods purchased. If you are allowed a refund, the terms would be stated when paying the deposit.

A simple change of mind is rarely accepted.
