    If there is no room for a tumble drier then get a combined washer drier, they are cheaper to buy that two separate units.

    They can be a good solution. However the drying capacity with these machines normally is only half the washing capacity, so it takes twice as long to dry a full load. And of course one cannot put another wash on while the previous one is drying.

    And also will work out expensive if the op's daughter already had a machine or cannot afford to buy, install & run a combi.
