WARNING - Rambling long story that appears to be going nowhere:
apart from to the rant board which is where it belongs rather than here.

    Cheers

ok, maybe i didnt explain this properly, they took the payment of £165.00, then refunded £65.00 then resold it at £35.00, two transactions out of £200 total then to wait for refund of £65.00.
    which is perfectly normal.
it wasnt a case of wait for a refund then go back as i hadnt left the store. should it not be that they should have just refunded the difference?
No becaue your cash flow issues (as others have already pinted out) are none of their business. How do you expect them to keep any sort of stock control tracking (they can't anyway but thats beside the point) with a computerised system to do it any other way than they have?

You didn't have to read it you know - hence the warning!

The point is B&Q's customer service as exemplified by the op, mine and lots of others experience has an effect on that company whether we are 'right' or not. It can be argued that technically b & q are within their rights - but that does not help them when many only consider the shop as a last resort after wickes, home base, Wilkinson's, the internet etc.

We all actually need b&q to be successful but it nearly went under a couple of years ago.

That's a fairly standard refund policy in my experience. Whether you actually left the shop or not is surely immaterial once the transaction has actually taken place.

Annoying for you, but B&Q haven't really done anything wrong.

Totally agree, I thought they all did the same.

It's a rant, but a rant about nothing
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed

Not quite. The purchased good was not fit for purpose. In law there is no '60 day' time limit. This length of time is b&q policy. The manager refused to discuss the issue. I was not rude or demanding. Like I say I just brought another one and swapped out. I haven't been back since. Poor customer service only leads to one thing - a poor reputation which can be fatal.

These days with faster payments in banks when I have taken anything back to the store, 99.% of the time, the refund is in my account before the payment for the item leaves the bank.

I didn't! :D I could tell it was a rant from the word go. There are always two sides of the story, we only have one from you and (now having read it) it seems that you are blaming B&Q for your failure to correctly check that all the parts were present.

It never pays to be aggressive in these places and I am sure that there are far more people happy with them than you try to paint. Please understand that this is in pursuit of objectivity. Frankly I don't find them any worse or any better than any of the sheds to be honest. You want old fashioned customer service then you go to the local indy. Trouble is you pay more for that privelege but there we go.

Anyway the thread is well and truly hijacked now.

    Cheers

please can someone help me with some advice from my awful shopping experience today!
went to B&Q and bought 2 three metre lengths of worktop and a few bits total paid £165.00,and noticed one was damaged - i hadnt even left the store! the unhelpful sales person eventually got someone to get me a non damaged one........15 minutes later said salesperson comes back with worktop which is damaged but right on the very end and agrees to sell it at a discounted rate, instead of £65, they would do it for £35 -easy enough - a £30 refund on what i already spent??? No, apparently its their policy to do a refund back to my card for the full price, then start over again selling it back to me at £35.00. i now have to wait until some point this week for the £65.00 refund. taking the total spent today to £200 instead of £135. i could understand this if i had left the store, got home and gone back but i hadnt. would appreciate any feedback on this, i have sent them an email about the lack of service and the fact they have made me go overdrawn now and my other half has been back to the store this evening to be told basically tough!!
waaaaa - angry is an understatement:mad:

What B&Q sell as a 3 metre work top , is a couple of inches longer than that, so you may find, that with a corner off, it is long enough for the purpose. It happened to me a couple of weeks ago, and I was pleased with my discount.
