Hi,
A friend of ours has a normal BT line (not business) and they rent out the odd car and taxi. They are moving to another island and would like us to have the business. The people buying their house do not want the number and are getting a new line installed. What would be the most cost efficant way of us obtaining friends telephone number.

thanks for any help

Try phoning BT and asking them or give all the business customers your current phone no

If you tell BT they were using it as a business line they might want the business rate from them???

If you want a second line the cheapest way is to get a voip line

You might look into BT CallSign, which allows 2 numbers on the same line, and then ask if the other number can be ported on to this arrangement.

Or you might look into voice over internet use. This can be run on a PC, or with extra hardware like a router and adapter when the PC is off. Look for threads about VoIP.

CallSign would be a lot simpler, if BT will transfer the number, and costs a couple or three quid a month
