ppi offer

took a £23,500 endowment mortgage out in august 1996,and remortgaged with a differrent bank in july2002.the bank i left have offered me £991.55 premium repayment on my a.s.u cover and £1104.25 at 8% intrest a total of £2095.80 . the letter they sent me dated 18/07/2013 arrived 25/07/2013 stated i had 28 days to decide if i want to accept the offer or not,and if they did not hear from me a cheque would be sent, i did NOT contact them, but the next day 26/07/2013 a cheque arrived from the bank for the said amount.can i demand to know how how many payments i made and how much per month i was paying,as it seems strange to send me a cheque so quick.i have no paperwork of my own so i am just trusting the bank.does this amount sound about right or are the bank trying to fob me of cheaply.I am glad to be offered something, but want what i paid in plus interest.

If you have no paperwork, you can't really complain about it. Only you know what you paid.

    Not very helpful ???

You know from the number of posts you have recorded on this website
you should have said '' Send a SAR request along with the usual £10 fee''
Why did you not suggest this course of action???

Because he's already had an offer and has 28 days to accept it. A SAR will take up to 40 days and not return in time for his accepatance or rejection of their offer so then he will have to go to the ombudsman and wait up to 18 months, and they will not necessarily uphold his complaint.
    ASU is not PPI.

    Any more not helpful suggestions?
He can ask for a breakdown certainly, but he should have sent a SAR to begin with.

How do you know it will take 40 days ???? Or are you part of the banking implants on this site ? Quote " He should have sent a SAR to
begin with " again not very helpful ! What is wrong with sending a SAR
and if nothing is received within 26 days then to accept the offer ?

Because ti usually does, sometimes it takes longer, and then you have to complain to the ICO to get them moving.

I do love all these paranoid people.....and the ones who liek to complain about 'being helpful'

If you want to complain about it, then do something about it and offer help yourself.

I have noticed on this website we have a certain number of people who seem to be giving advice 24/7. Some of the advice i have noticed has a distinct 'bias' towards the banking/financil industry. You have been on this site for 12 months and posted on average 8 posts a day ! Would you say your advice has been 'impartial' ?

    Yes.

I've noticed you've been on this site for a lot longer and posted no advice. Would you say you don't realy care who gives what advice when because you don't participate at all?

I havent seen any such bias.
I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.

Not true ! I have suggested to some posters with a particular course of action -after they were receiving some very biased information.

I don't have time to spend all my spare time on this website unlike certain
people. I will still however reserve the right to comment when i can clearly see bad/biased advice being given.
