Is it possible talktalk broadband can interfere with your tv signal.
Just clutching at straws at the moment but my son has just had talktalk broadband switched on today. This is the first time they have had broadband at home. He says he is getting 'squares' on his tv I am thinking he means interference when the tv picture begins to break up. They only have freeview on their tv so no sky tv connected.

All the big powers they've silenced me. So much for free speech and choice on this fundamental human right, and outing the liars.

Does the interference stop if he switches the Talk Talk router off?0

It oughtn't be affecting freeview, however for instance if they use a video sender then 2.4GHz Wifi might degrade that0

I live in a terrace and have Freesat from Sky plus broadband via a fixed line. I won't have wifi in my house but unfortunately the next door but one neighbour had wifi and seemed to spend every spare hour on his laptop. I had loads of interference on my TV and asked on various forums whether his wifi could be the cause. The general consensus was 'no'. But he moved out recently and since then - no problems. As they say in the States - 'go figure'.0

Dodgy power adaptors supplied with cheap kit* can and do sometimes cause interference on the frequencies used by things like TV signals, but work fine with the device they're powering (basically poor shielding/design when it comes to EM interference).
It could also be also just be something like the atmospherics at the moment, as hot dry weather can (from memory) affect the frequencies used by TV/Radio (similar to the way that on old non FM radios you could often pick up signals from much further away at night).
If unplugging the BB modem/router clears up the interference it's that which is the problem (and contact the ISP for a new one if supplied by them), if not it could be something like the weather or simple coincidence.
*And unfortunately a lot of gear supplied by ISP's as "free" modems/routers is pretty cheaply made.0 -

Dodgy SM-PSUs are more common than you may imagine.. I had to swap out Mini-Gun #2's TV/DVD combo as after 4 years the internal PSU decided it was going to produce enough noise to seriously degrade the broadband signal entering the house. The TV/DVD worked absolutely fine. If it had been an external power brick I could have just swapped that, but s0d's law said it wasn't on that model.
The cause could have been any of ex-neighbor's kit, not just his router.......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple0
