If the plaster doesn't crack when you drill the holes now what makes you think it will crack after it's been skimmed ?
BTW the plasterer won't thank you for stopping him from trowling the wall properly by having match sticks sticking out & he will prob either pull them out or snap them off, let the man do a nice job of the wall & drill it afterI'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.
