one of the questions is "was I working and able to pay the rent when I took the lease". Well, yes and no. I wasn't working, I paid six months up front out of the proceeds of sale. Now I have little left.
The answer to this is no. You may be eligible for transitional protection if you had been self sufficient in rented property prior to your claim, but that would not apply in your situation.0 -
GO to www.turn2us.org.uk.
You will need to know the maximum local housing allowance for a 1 bedroom flat/house as they will not pay more.
Claim LHA and CTB and give your savings as if you had paid one month's rent and the deposit.
No you put you savings down as they stand when you claim.
If you take this advice and "...give your savings as if you had paid one month's rent and the deposit." it will flag up as a discrepancy and warrant further investigation.
They will want your most recent two months consecutive bank statements and proof of all capital and as you were the owner of your previous address they will want to know what happened to the proceeds of the sale. These are my own views and you should seek advice from your local Benefits Department or CAB.0
