Credit file question

I've sent off the forms asking creditors named in my bankruptcy to update the details as they state default,

My question is the cra file shows my first default date on each debt as two months after my bankruptcy date,I never actually went into default with anyone and bankruptcy was sort of sprung on the creditors,I have been discharged since 2011 but never realised I needed to ask for them to updated,

Once updated will this work out in my favour or will I still be penalised creditwise until the 6 years are up and the bankruptcy no longer shows?

I'd like to start trying to rebuild

Thanks

Use the credit reference agencies own dispute processes, they can make contact with the appropriate people in the organisations.
  • I have done this with noddle, and just taken out the 30day trial of Equifax as the data controllers I'm hoping, will have updated by the time I ring to cancel,I will have a look at both, thanks
  • One of my four creditors has just updated my cra file, this debt is now marked as satisfied however the defaults are still showing, all defaults for this debt were after my bankruptcy so I think should be removed, theyve had the letters etc,
What should I do now to correct this

    Thanks
  • Ok so I just checked again,

    Made bankrupt 30/11/2010 discharged 30/9/2011

First default for this debt listed as January's 2011 till september 2011 all other defaults have been removed,
Is that right? I thought it was my bankruptcy date anything after being declared bankrupt would be removed meaning the account wouldn't show any defaults at all??

    Any info appreciated

I'm sorry, but why should Default markers magically disappear from a discharged bankrupt's CRA file? I've been in a DMP for six years paying back what I owe and have had defaults on many of the accounts I owe money on. Should a bankrupt (and I know there are many reasons why this can happen) be able to have their CRA file wiped clean? Or should it reflect the way in which the lenders were left out of pocket in the same way as my DMP, or someone who goes into an IVA?

Bankruptcy is the most serious of Defaults surely so Defaults properly reflect the way a bankrupt has handled borrowing. Sorry to sound harsh but going bankrupt gets rid of the debts, not the consequences
