Barclaycard can't find any evidence of me paying a ppi premium

I contacted Barclaycard back in May 2013 to find out if I had been paying PPI on an old Barclaycard I had back in the late 1990's. They said I had and therefore made a complaint for mis-selling on the grounds I didn't know I had the policy and that it was just added to my account without my knowledge. I received a letter from them today saying that they have upheld my complaint but as they cannot find any evidence of me having paid any premiums they can't award me a pay out. I no longer have any paperwork from back then and can't prove I have but baring in mind it was them that told me I had been paying PPI surely they must have the evidence? I now don't know what to do, any advice from anyone would be greatly welcomed???

Barclaycard keep a running 6 years of statements on file. Yours goes back much further than that. So, it is no surprise they have no statements.

Whilst your account may have had PPI on it, it does not mean you were paying any PPI. For example, if you cleared your statement each month, you would never have paid a penny in PPI.

If you have no evidence of payment and they have no evidence of payment then it is game over.
