Mortgage Calculator Opinions/testing

Options
Hi,
I've seen people on the forums refer to sites that they or someone they know run in answers to questions so hopefully its ok for me to post this.

I've seen plenty of generic mortgage calculators on the web and think they could be much more useful by expanding on the data they show. The web app I'm working on displays information payments and affordability .etc and hopefully considering the depth of the data being displayed through the use of graphs its relatively easy to follow.

The main question I'm asking is, is there any other information you would like to see? (but any feedback is welcome)

Thanks for any opinions

Did hover on the spam button, but checked site out on iphone, so not sure if the mobile experience different to the standard one?..

Some of the graph axis look confusing, monthly payment shows 8/13 2/16 8/18 2/21.. others jumping 2.5 years?? After all KFI's would show annual figures..

Maybe more advanced options re interest rate - showfixed & svr rates, Pption to add in fees and comparisons so can check different products e.g. 2 Yr at X rate (Y follow) vs 3Yr at A rate (B Follow On)..

With advanced features to show what if Base rate increases in that time..

Using the valuation - do a little more to show equity % over time..

That way if comparing the 2,3 & 5 year terms it could show what equity % 'May have' when the deal ends for if other Tiers of mortgages could be offered..

This could then give pointer to lenders with better products in that range of LTV.. as at the moment value seems a little overlooked in the mix..
  • Thanks for looking and giving such detailed feeback,

Thats true I had to go with short hand dates 8/13 due to the size of a mobile screen and the labels overlapping. The layout does change for a mobile to try and work better with the screen size.

I'll add more detail to the axis I think try and make the labels vertical so I can fit in long format dates.

That's a very good point regards the equity and mortgage term lengths I will defiantly look at a way to add this.

Im trying to keep from going to over complicated but I think the equity percentage and term lengths are very valid points

    Thanks again
