KS no wall mounted boiler I know of allows a installation or servicing distance of 100mm, so it wasn't installed correctly in the first place

Page 3 of the MI, min 150mm below, & no OP that doesn't include having to remove the floor boards

This thread stems from the OP's other thread where a BG engineer has apparently condemned this boiler as being unserviceable and recommended replacement purely because he has had to contort himself a bit and also "because parts aren't available any more".

    a) Diddums. It must have met MIs when installed otherwise it could not have been signed off. If it didn't meet MI's then there is a case for pursuing the installer.
    b) This boiler was last manufactured in 2010. Spares are unavailable? Yes, of course they aren't. [where's the wry smile smiley gone?]

Can't see any justification for OP having to fork out for a brand new installation in those circumstances and shame on BG for suggesting it.

    Cheers

Wow. You're so observant! I wish I had your knowledge of this stuff.:(

My reading is a side vent would enable the boiler flue to go through the wall the right? If so why not have your current boier mounted on the wall on the right and the flue can be higher.

Valid point but my point is that

    a) It was installed by someone and there should be / is a paper trail for that.

    b) Presumably it has been serviced in the meantime and there is / should be a paper trail for that

So that is the first place to start to determine a) the correctness of the installation and b) how this wasn't picked up before. Its the first sentence of this:

BG have said that the parts no longer available. They also do not like the fact that it is poorly placed and a bit hard to access (it was put too close to the floor).
which sticks in my craw and the second sentence seems a bit weak in terms of "this is an incorrect installation". Neither of which, on the face of it, are grounds to suggest OP has to buy a new boiler.

I wonder if OP took DYN's advice from the other thread and contacted Vokera to get the details of a suitable engineer to give a second opinion?

    Cheers

PS Sorry oven timer demanded my attention and is about to do so again. :D

I quite agree, however if the guy put it there in the 1st place I doubt the OP is gonna get any joy getting it installed correctly, the servicing distance ATM is NCS (not to currant standards), however BG are well noted for turning off or refusing to work on a NCS appliance

Ps I hope there is enough for 3 it smells fantastic

Oops - there it goes again. BFN.
