Hi I'm about to point my house and could do with any tips (help) that anyone can offer, the main worry I have is that my house is built with Accrington brick and so the gap between bricks are very narrow.
And the main problem that I will have I think, is keeping the bricks clean. Can anybody tell me how best to clean the bricks after pointing.
Cheers.

Have a look at https://www.screwfix.com product 17951 to see if this tool might be helpful0

As we limewashed the house after repointing we weren't too bothered about keeping the brickwork absolutely spotless but it is a problem.
The Pointing Gun you've been recommended sounds like a good idea. Probably also worth buying a Mortar Raker as it's long slow tedious job. We found the scaffold tower earned it's keep for this job alone. I wouldn't want to do it from a ladder, mind you I won't be doing it again anyway. My weight loss following Doktor Dahlqvist' Dietary Program

I have never pointed any part of my property but would love to give it a go. What exactly would I be looking to buy other than the mortar gun and the joint raker. (Works with most mortars that don't contain sharp sand or aggregates?)...Would the mortar come ready mixed etc just needing water?..or would I have to physically mix certain products. Please excuse as I am a total newbie and have never attempted anything like this before. Any comments would be appreciated...

Forget the above posts(no offence) what you need for Accrington Stock bricks,is ready mixed pointing mastic,it comes in tubs, and is Linsead oil based,(red or natural colour)you have to trowel it in.You will have to make sure you rake your joints out about 20mm.
places like screwfix etc will not sell this you will have to go to a builders merchant(jewsons, travis perkings etc).As they are a stock brick they do not absorb motor like the average brick.0 -
Thank you plumb1. I was thinking of using mastic but was talked out of it. The gun looks a good idea for normal brick, but as you say not much use for stock brick.
Once again, thank you all for your help.

Why where you talked out of it,what reason.
The mastic i refered to was not mastic(like silicone) that comes in tubes,it is sand based0
