I have GOOD NEWS!! I went the Facebook route, they were eager to help, and via their customer services team it was CANCELLED yesterday!!!!
I am awaiting the official letter from Excel Parking though, and in future, to avoid headache, if the machine isn't working, I'm outta there! Not worth the stress!!!

I bought some trousers at Tesco and got a ticket.
Should I send them my inside leg measurement and see if this gets the ticket cancelled??1 -

If that got me off the hook for a potential £100 charge, then not only would I give the measurement, I'd let them check it too. Purely pragmatic decision.0
