Advice and Guidance Ford Fiesta Clutch
Options
All,
Over the past few weeks, the clutch on the Ford Fiesta 2002 1.25 LX keeps loosing restistance when I dip it. My foot just goes very easily to the floor.
It happens intermittently and can not happen for a while, I find if i kind of pump it a bit, then eventually it catches and I can get into gear.
I has until yesterday only happend when I first go to start the car, but then yesterday it happened as I was approaching a roundabout and I was starting to go down my gears, which kind of got me panicy as I only passed my test recently.
Is this something I can recify myself (I have a very limited knowledge of cars but can check and top up my own fluid reservoirs etc) or should I book into a garage?
Thanks in advance for any advice or info

As far as im aware you have a hydraulic clutch, so from the symptoms id say it's either the master cylinder or the slave cylinder.
Unfortunately it's more likely to be the slave and the slave will be inside the clutch housing, which means it'd be wise the get the clutch itself changed at the same time to save money in future.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Sounds remarkably like the fault you used to get on the older ones when the plastic quadrant on the clutch pedal started to lose its teeth. Have a look, because if it is fitted with one of those its only an uncomfortable hour dangling in the footwell and £20 to change.0
