Pilkington K Glass "normal" glass colour?

scope

One of the sealed double glazed units in my dining room is leaking, and needs replacing.. As this is on a one of my french doors I suspect I need special toughened glass? I rang one company and they told me I needed Pilkinton K glass; will this type of glass be the same colour as my other units (clear), or do they have a darker layer on them, making them different to the rest?

It depends what you have now, but I've looked at K Glass alongside another double glazed glass, and there was a slight difference in colour (the K was VERY vaguely smoked/tinted in its appearance, whereas the other was clearer). The only way of checking is to get a sample pain, and to put it up against the original.0

Pilkington K glass does have a slight tint to it when compared to 'ordinary' glass. All new windows would need to have K or an equivalent heat reflecting glass, however for repair I believe you can replace like for like so regular toughened would be ok. The glass with the blue tint could well have been Pilkington blue active self cleaning that is meant for conservatory roofs.0
