You pays your money, you takes your choice.
In 30 years of motoring I've never lost my keys, never had a breakdown and never broken a windscreen. I've never had a one year old vehicle that needed enhanced breakdown coverage either. All things that are covered by a typical Platinum package.
I've previously used the usrentacar gold package which includes an extra driver & tank of fuel, but not the 'extra' named above.
Crunch the figures and work out whats best for you ;)

    Interesting
We've always taken an enhanced insurance package to include zero excess CDW, LDW, taxes and fees, additional drivers & tank of fuel. We always have the same level of cover but different companies seem to call that level of cover different things - it's been called Gold with some (eg Alamo) and Platinum with others (eg Virgin, Dollar).
To my knowledge, we've never had cover for replacement keys or enhanced breakdown cover included and neither have/would we pay for these.
(I think Avis include windscreen cover but, again, it's not something we'd pay extra for.)

Just had a quick nosey at usrentacar's website, it seems they offer Silver, Gold AND Platinum policies which offer different levels of cover. BUT their Platinum insurance is not the same as the rental companies insurance and is supplied through usrentacar's third party insurers.

Their Gold offering is the same as the enhanced cover we always take (whatever it happens to be called with the particular company).
(The cover supplied with their Platinum policy is way OTT IMO.)

So it seems that usrentacar's Platinum policy is not 'typical', in fact it seems that cover offered by Platinum policies can vary enormously :)

Everything will be alright in the end so, if it’s not yet alright, it means it’s not yet the end

  • I always used to get a lot from netflights, but have also used usrentacar and Car3000 (which has a new name now). The last few times I've used the UK sites for Cash and National, who are very competitive.
