It highly unlikely (and almost impossible) to find what you want for that kind of money in this region.

Believe me....I've been wanting to move to a larger house for about 5 years now and it's just not possible.

My 2 bed flat, ground floor with gardens (large rooms) cost over 100k 10 year ago, it needs a bit of work to bring it up to date.

All the places I've seen are at least 180K upwards...any anything cheaper is in the worst of areas and I'm not jumping from the frying pan into the fire.

Sorry but if you do find that hidden gem...watch out for me cause i'll be snapping at your heels :D

Someone we know bought an end-of-terrace cottage with pretty garden in a Wiltshire village a year or so back for a bit less than your budget OP - but it's a one-bed property with d/s bathroom, no GCH (electric fires & log-burner) and on-street parking. It's also *incredibly* tiny - I would guess about 500 sq ft......smaller than DS's London flat :o

We're in Wilts close to the border with both Somerset and Dorset and for what you're after I reckon you'd be looking to spend at least £190-225k (the approximate asking prices of two recently SSTC houses in our village - both only two beds and in need of renovation) around here - much more for a good period property........a detached three-bed (again in need of major work) in our road was recently marketed at £325k.

This is a shame , i was hoping one day to relocate the family down to St Ives , 2 kids plus the dogs , and i was hoping to grab something along the front , or at least really near , for about £185k

Is this not likely then ?

    Sad times

Actually, you can get property at that price in Cornwall

    just not on the coast

    try this one

compared with the nutty prices that you have to pay for a sea view, I think that's a bargain
