'Becoming debt free and staying that way is a very difficult thing to achieve. When times get hard it can be hard to stay positive and keep on going. I've been having a hard time recently myself and know that a lot of others have also been feeling this way so I've decided that we need to have a challenge of sorts to boost our positivity which will give us a renewed energy to bust those debts!
The idea (and this is open to suggestions from others) is that I'll start up a daily thread where we'll post one thing we are doing to boost our positivity. Obviously this does not need to be debt or financially related. It could be something as simple as phoning an old friend we haven't spoken to in a while or fixing that dodgy floorboard that's been bugging for a while, reorganising the kitchen to make things flow easier and hence cutting back on stress etc etc etc Although these things aren't by themselves cutting back on our debts or helping financially they are helping to make our lives easier and make us feel that we have made a positive achievement in our day and to our lives in general.'
good morning darling dfw's! the sun has forgotten about us up here in the north but that does not stop this being the most fabulous day.
my remortgage money cleared this morning and I have just come off the phone to the bank to pay my final credit card bill. that means that in 3-4 working days I'll be debt free except for my mortgage.

Hi
Well the fact that your going to be Debt free is enough to make us all feel positive. There is a light at the end of the tunnel.
I'm feeling positive because I should have lost a good amount of weight when I get on the scales tonight:j
And I've just checked Snowball and I could be debt free even quicker! But only if I try really hard!Current debt - £16,300

Morning people
I am having my hair cut and blow dried today which will be lovely. I have it done regularly and it's built into my budget - heck, look at me trying to justify my spending... but actually I just enjoy the sitting down for an hour and the chitter chat with my hairdreser oh, and the end result!!!
My back is hurting me and has been for a few days, I'm looking forward to when the pain goes away which prob won't be this weekend as I'm decorating!
:heartpuls CG :heartpulsEver wonder about those people who spend £2 apiece on those little bottles of Evian water? Try spelling Evian backward.0 -
Morning everyone,
That's great news LJ, well done :j
I managed to do what I said yesterday, didn't spend much (anything at all actually
) when I went out, and stayed within my 'don't get bad tempered' drinking limit! Not sure it's helped my cold much though, am very sniffly today and got a strange pulsing headache in the back of my head (and no it's not a hangover)
Today my positive thing is to try and get through another dull day at work by appreciating the fact that I have got a job (which is actually OK when it's busy, just going through a quiet patch at the moment), and that I work with some lovely silly funny people who make me laugh on a daily basis even when I feel really down

Morning
Not been feeling very positive over the last couple of days but decided to make an effort today even though I only had about two hours sleep last night.
Positives today are that I went to Lidl and managed to get a bumper pack of fresh coffee for £1.29 (trust me, I need this today!). Cancelled gym membership because I don't have time to go at the moment and it will save a bit of cash. I've dug out my old step counter and have already done 6,000 steps today - only 4,000 to go! Checked my bank account and my wages have gone in early - that never happens! Oh - and Emily's been booted out of BB which has to be the cherry on the cake! :T
Off for 40 winks. What if the hokey cokey is what it's all about? :eek:Official "Bring back Mark and Lard NOW! or else (please)" Member 160 -
Hi everyone!
I have been feeling a little down for the last couple of months due to nearly have paid off all my debts (except mortgage) to be being back in debt as I had to buy my ex out of our flat. I have had absolutely no spending money and no treats.
So I think it is about time I started being more positive, I will look forward today to:
-Posting my claim for 480 pounds worth of Lloyds bank charges
-Not increasing my debt any more
-My next pay day when I can pay a little more than minimum payments
-Getting back (fingers crossed 200 pounds from the mortgage comapny after I had to pay extra solicitors cost due to them screwing up)
-Cuddling up to my OH tonight
Well done LJ about being so close to paying off all your debts!
Will you be a MFW next?Debt Free - done

thanks, i think i'll have a couple of months off where i spend my disposable income on me but after that it's hard on the saving. I did get a martgage where i can overpay but at 25 i'm not in a major rush for it. chances are in two years or so i'll be taking on a much bigger mortgage for a bigger place but at least i'll be in a much better financial position for it.0
