what is morally corrupt about paying the bill your presented with?i was prepered to pay the full amount they were asking me to pay
They knew there was an error on the original bill and had obviously taken it away to try and correct it. You also knew there was a problem, but hoped you'd get away with it. They had not provided you with the final bill for the amount they wanted you to pay.
Long story short.
They mess up the bill. You notice but hope they don't, so you can pay less. They do notice it and take the bill away for correction, but take longer than you would have liked because you had to be somewhere else, so you leave without giving them any way of contacting you to provide you with the bill to allow you settle up for the correct amount.

Fair summary?
not quite, because i did give them warning i would give them two more minutes and would then be leaving. they did not protest at this time limit i issued or approach me before the two minute deadline to request more time0 -
yes thats why i always attempt to pay!some of!my restaurant bill
Fixed that for you.
no you havent fixed it because it wasnt broken. i attempted to pay the full amount presented on the bill0 -

But you knew the bill was wrong. That's the difference. if would have been different If it was a complex bill with lots of items and you didn't know what it should be and paid what was asked, or if they had said "It was supposed to be £30, but we will do it for £20". But you were given a bill which you knew to be incorrect and said nothing.0 -
but you used section 3 to say it was an offence to knowingly underpay a restaurant bill. this was incorrect as nothing in section 3 indicates this

I am guessing that the bill was fully itemised and therefore by giving them the money you were trying to pay for another tables food.. even if this was paid, you still owed for the food your table ate.
You seem to feel you already know all the answers to your question so I'm confused why you felt the need to post?0 -

legally that's irrelevant. no one has cited any part of the law which states it is an offence to knowingly pay the wrong amount at a restaurant. all you are legaly required to do is pay the amount they ask you to pay.it would have been different If it was a complex bill with lots of items and you didn't know what it should be and paid what was asked,
no it makes no difference how many items are on the bill, because there is no legal requirement for the customer to look at the billor if they had said "It was supposed to be £30, but we will do it for £20". But you were given a bill which you knew to be incorrect and said nothing.
that is not an offense0 -
You always have the option of seeking alternative employment,
i am seeking alternative employmentif the employer can't afford to pay you more or reckon you aren't worth more
i reckon im as useful to the company now as i was seven years ago but am effectively paid a lot less0
