Things for families in Lockerbie/Dumfries and Galloway area

We are thinking about staying in this area at the end of August and wondered if anyone can advise on things to do which are suitable for 8 year old and 1 year old. We usually go to Peak District and visit theme parks so this should be a quiet change 
We all enjoy visiting nice parks so anything like this or similar would be good to hear about.
