Blocked Shower Drain

My shower is constantly filling up with water as the drain seems to be blocked.

I know that a lot of my hair comes out when I wash it so I think that will most likely be what the problem is and I am going to buy one of those stoppers that catches all the hair before it goes down the drain but I really need to unblock the drain first.

Are there any home products that I could use to clear it or should I fork out on the Mr Muscle type products?

Thanks in advance!

Forget chemicals, use a drain snake to clear the physical obstruction. About £6 form any hardware store.
Most shower wastes incorporate a removable part below the grid, this catches some of the debris.

If you have a shallow shower trap its unlikely that a drain snake will work. If you can't physically get at it chemicals are your only choice. Sorry.

This is what we have to do - regularly clean out the trap and then use the hair dissolving chemicals when clearing the trap doesn't make a difference.

I had exactly the same problem and tried various potions but nothing worked. I bought a drain snake? from Asda think it was 99p and it had two different sizes in it. The smaller one worked its basically a long covered bendy wire with a piece of Velcro on the top. You put it down the train and twirl it round it catches all the hair and worked great. I now make sure we always have a sink drainer over the plug hole. The shower now drains perfectly. Hope this can help someone else.
