I'm sure it's going to turn up in the house somewhere but I'm just wondering what happens if I can't find it?
Is it likely that the landlord will have a spare?

See if anyone you know has a spare as they're often universal - or look on the internet.
I seem to have acquired loads of keys from god knows where - then daren't throw them out 'just in case'! I bet there are keys to things in my first flat from 1991 lol.

These guys replaced a lost window key for me identifying it from a photo of the handle. I say lost, our vendor never gave us it on completion

The one time I needed a replacement uPVC window key, I went down to a local locksmith and they sold me a big bag of assorted window keys for £20, on the understanding that I could find the right one and return the rest for a refund - which is exactly what happened.
Or if it's one of the sash-type locks with a square profile, these are easy to find on ebay.Let's settle this like gentlemen: armed with heavy sticks

Do you have locks on the other windows? Normally all the locks are keyed alike if they are all fitted at the same time, so key from another window will fit it.0

This is normally the case if the windows were installed at the same time. Though, you do get the odd window with a different lock/key to the rest as it was replaced due to a break-in etc.0 -
Or, to save later embarrassment, you can just buy a new handle
Toolstation window handle
Easy if it is unlocked (and that style - they have others). Not so easy if window is locked shut!0
