in Cutting tax
Hi folks
My hubby was successful in making a claim for uniform tax, so had his new tax code last week where they reduced £60 from the yearly amount 2013-14.(standard rate).
They are backdating from about 2010.
Now yesterday he received P800 tax calculation 2012-13 to say he was due £74 from an overpayment for 2012-13, would that be anything to do with the remaining uniform reclaim please?
It does not confirm that on the form, but obviously the flat rate of £60 was shown deducted from the yearly income 2012-13.
Thank you in advance.;)

Hi Di I am glad your OH finally got a reply from HMRC !!
If you look on the P800 is there a figure towards the end of the calculation which says adjustment for earlier years or overpayment at the start of the tax year? If so this will probably be the refund for all years and he should get other P800's for all years.
If he claimed £60 per year he will only get back 20% of that amount per year if hes a basic rate taxpayer

LOL thank you ;-)
He received a tax notice of a new code a few days back, so his original code was 944L, they changed it to 950L for 2013-2014.
It states: We agree £60 is the amount of tax relief due for the expense that you are likely to have to pay out.
Then came along a P800 in yesterday's post for tax year 2012-2013.
It just says:
Paye Income
totals.
Flat Rate Job Expenses £60
Personal Allowance
Less Total allowances
Income Tax is chargeable on this amount:
Tax Chargeable =
Less other Adjustments £12.00
Less Total Adjustments > £12
Tax payable (B minus C)
Repayment of Tax (A minus D) £74
Repayment Due £74
........................................................................
then today came a cheque £74.
.....................
So does that sound about right on the layout in regards of the remaining reclaim rebate etc?
Thanks.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"

Hi Di, tbh it doesn't sound quite right
If he was claiming tax relief on £60 a year 09/10 onwards I would expect him to be due a refund of about £12 a year (unless something has gone wrong)
The P800 for 12/13 would show other adjustments of £36 (for 09/10 10/11 & 11/12) and a refund for 12/13 would make it £48 in total.
Unless you post all the figures from the 12/13 P800 its difficult to tell if he overpaid for another reason in 12/13 year. Not sure why the other adjustments is only £12, he may need to contact HMRC0% credit card £1360 & 0% Car Loan £7500 ~ paid in full JAN 2020 = NOW DEBT FREE 🤗
