NPower Problem
Options
Hi everyone
I moved into a place of my own on 6th April and I phoned up NPower at the time to give them my meter readings and set up direct debit etc.
Since then I have not received any correspondence from them with my account number etc and they havent taken off any direct debits that were agreed.
I was just looking for some advice on what to do in this situation. I wrote down my meter readings at the time but cant find them so cant remember what my original readings were to give them again if I have to.
I really dont want to be landed with a big massive bill. I would have set the money aside if I had noticed they werent taking payments sooner. I cant afford to pay for a huge bill
Thanks in advance

Why have you left things 3-4 months if you excpected to have a DD collected every month?
I suggest you give them a call.0 -

A family member has been seriously ill so I havent been on top of my payments as I normally would.
If I had noticed it earlier I would have sorted it.
Just looking for advice how best to go about it now that it is a few months down the line0 -
call them, only way to tellDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

Hi clare1510,
It does sound a bit odd that you haven't received any details since you rang us when you moved in.
If you give us a call on 0800 073 3000, we'll be able to see what's happened here and get this sorted for you.
Many thanks,

Hi Adam
I have tried phoning a few times now but when they ask me security questions they say the answers I am giving aren't correct.
Now all I can guess is when I phoned up and created an account over the phone the answers given weren't put in properly or because of the new system changeover the system still has the old tenants living here.
Is there any way I can get this sorted as I have now received a letter that despite previous reminders (which I have had none) there is a chance a prepayment meter might be put in and I don't want that
I just want to arrange to pay any arrears through a possible plan and set up a direct debit which I thought had been done. I don't want to get into debt over this
If you could get back to me asap that would be great as they wont speak to me over the phone0 -

What security questions are they asking you?
What have you done in the past month+ since this thread was last posted in?
Does anyone else get the feeling you are not interested in sorting out this issue, if it even exists? :cool:0 -
Wywth - this is why I dont usually post on here because of people like you that ruin a great forum. I have been doing everything I can to get it sorted but with no outcome hence why I thought I would try again
Why would I create a post asking for help if there was no issue? I dont like it being implied that im a liar.
All I want to do is not get into debt with my supplier. At least I am trying to get help instead of ignoring the problem.
Anyway I dont need to justify myself to you any longer. I really hope no one treats you the way you have treated me as no one deserves that.0 -
I would do one of 2 things.
i) If there is a Mr clare1510, they can ring npower up to say they've just moved in and are taking over supply and here are todays meter readings. If not, anyone stopping the night at yours will do in substitution.
ii) If possible, change suppliers using a switching website. In about 80 or so days, you will get a final bill from npower which will sort out your arrears. Switch back if you love npower so much.0 -
Back to basics. Were NPower the original supplier to the property when you moved in? If not, you have not been switched and are still in a deemed contract with the original supplier.
Npower should give you approx 4 months to clear the arrears (the same period as that in which it accrued). Since the heating will have been off over the summer, it shouldn't be that large. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -

Totally agree I've had sarcastic comments from him in the past.0
