UPDATE:
Mon 29/07 - I was phoned back by Scottish Power the Monday following my ordeal.
The chap was phoning to confirm that my DD had been reset at the original £40 starting with the payment due on 02/08. Quite nice of them to do that, made me feel reassured the issue was finally sorted.
02/07 - My DD comes out of my account and I went online to check the payment. Can you guess how much it was?
£66.
I'm just astonished that this type of thing happens and goes unpunished.
I will be calling again later & I'm very interested to see what they have to say.shammyjack wrote: »Get their rep on here involved . social@scottishpower.com .

Sorry to be a bit late to this but I have just had a similar 'ordeal' with SP. I got a message from them to say they were increasing my DD from £26 to £66 per month despite me being nearly £20 in credit on my account. My first complaint via their online messaging thingy just got a stock 'bla-di-bla' response. I then sent 3 more messages, (backed up with letters), using a template suggested on this site saying I would go to the ombudsman/change supplier etc. 10 days passed and no response. I then had a moan on Twitter to @SP_EnergyPeople got a reply within hours to say to forward copies of correspondence to him and he would escalate my complaint. Hours later I had an email from SP Customer Services to say my DD had been revised and adjusted back to the original amount of £26 per month.
I wonder if £66 per month DD is their standard charge for a single person living alone no matter what their circumstances and usage are??? It was all very worrying anyhoos. So, if you have a problem with SP...make a fuss on Twitter - it seems to get them moving!!!!!0
