Fire & Asbestos Safety Certificates

Hi
I am in the process of selling my one bedroom flat with share of the freehold. The vendors solicitor has asked me to provide a fire and asbestos safety certificate for the communal hallways (It's a converted victorian property with three flats)
It's not anything I have ever heard of and can't seem to find much useful info in the web. I spoke to my solicitor who can only advise that I am in effect a landlord as it is share of the freehold and that I do need these done.
Can anyone advise how or who I can get this arranged?
Many thanks

Wearing your hat as the (part) person who directs the managing agents:
you tell them that they should do it.
Of course you'll need to confirm that your sol is correct when he says that this "should be done", but if he is your MA has been seriously negligent in not having done so already.0 -
Mmm not so Tim as some agents do step back and exclude H & S so from their duties or may proivide only specific duties and roles.
With a couple of very complicated schemes I arrange this facet with a specialist provider for the client, and they have a direct contractual arrangement.
For the OP try this

Dont forget you will need money in the kitty to do so!Stop! Think. Read the small print. Trust nothing and assume that it is your responsibility. That way it rarely goes wrong.
Actively hunting down the person who invented the imaginary tenure, "share freehold"; if you can show me one I will produce my daughter's unicorn0 -

In that case then, the FH has been negligent in instructing a company that doesn't do this and then not ensuring it is done by someone else
The bottom line is that (assuming this has to be done) it is the responsibility of the "share of freeholder" company to sort it.
He can't hide behind "oh we didn't realise"0
