Woodworm or what? I really haven't a clue. Please help...

Hi there,

I really need some guidance on potential woodworm type issues. I've got a couple of pics showing the grit that has been deposited from under the patio doors in the conservatory. Link below...

This has built up over less than 10 days. The reason I know this is that I cleared up the previous deposits thinking it was down to me drilling a couple of holes in the wall, and it's reappeared in the same three places under the frame.

I have taken pics of what I can see on the other side, but I cannot see under the floor itself as Laminate is down and it won't shift without breaking it.

The deposit is quite gritty rather than fine powder, and appears to a combination of wood and concrete but I could be wrong. There are no obvious signs of insect casings or anything like that in the grit. Needles to say I'm worried and hope you can give me some initial guidance.

Thank you in advance.

    Hi

I've had exactly the same appear by my front door frame- I thought it was probably caused by ants and was planning on trying some ant powder on it. I'll let you know if it stops it !

    regards

seriously? I've only lived here for a year, but haven't seen any ants in the house or conservatory at all. They're normally quite brazen aren't they??

There don't appear to be ants (thanks for the tip though). I've been watching for the past 35 mins (how sad!!) and there doesn't appear to be anything there. Any other ideas?

if it is woodworm and their in the worm stage, you wont see anything cos their boring their way through your timber!!!!
so treat it any way, why!
cos they will bread and multiply very quick and u'll have a major prob.
if u see flys 2/3mm long crush one between your fingers if its crackles ie its very dry its wood worm adults
either way don't wait go treat it now!!!!

Absolutely not woodworm in any stage of their lifecycle.
I would think most probably ants but could be bees.....but you would see the bees going in and out.
    Most likley ants

Thank you for the replies. I've bunged ant powder down to see what that does, but I haven't seen anything at all going in or out. Very strange.
