Apply for a new product with your bank...

Is there any banks that if you already have an account with them and then apply for a new product would only do an internal judgement on a yes / no without doing a full credit search elsewhere.

ive had a satander current account for 4 years and always managed it well and i am thinking of upgrading to 123, however i have opended quite a few new accounts recently and dont want any searches on my file for the next year.

I would call and ask them. Chances are they'll run a full search, but they should tell you one way or another.

It depends. Some banks are really decent with this but my own treated me like an entirely new customer, declined me and then wouldn't entertain an appeal. Really soured my relationship with them tbh. Their credit cards offer a minimum limit of £500, how they think someone on 18K a year can't afford that is bizarre!

which is the ironic thing as their decision has lost them large amounts of money from me, as I now put a lot of my dosh through another provider.

It's all about risk. They think "Will this person make us money?" Yes - give them an account. No - don't.

You need to prove your ability to run the account properly. What limit where you were expecting? Cash takes seconds to spend but years to pay back.

Santander do not externally credit score when you upgrade from an ordinary Santander account to a 123 account. I upgraded our joint account - as long as it has £500 a month or more credited from an external source, then you get the cashbacks. They may internally score so that depends on how you have run the account.
