Fair/Lawful end of tenancy

After reading the link provided by G_M (Ending/Renewing an AST) and understood that you can not end the FT (i.e. 6 or 12 month contract) earlier except landlords agrees to it (and pay £250 relisting fee). So for me as neither landlord or agency agree to Statutory Periodic Tenancy (SPT) I have to choose 6 month contract in case I am going to buy a property.
No, if you have come to the end of the FT, you do not need to sign any other agreements, it will automatically roll into SPT.
You can just ignore the letter and not sign anything. They will still need to give you 2 month notice regardless.0 -

As above, it doesn't matter what they do or don't agree to, its what happens when fixed term ends!
if they want to then kick you out they have to give 2 months notice, then incur costs of finding a new tenant, why would they do that when they have one paying now?0 -

(query to those of you who understand SPTs- does my linked post above not make itsufficiently clear that SPTs arise automatically? Does it need restating?)
