Just spoken to my step mum who is in her 80s. My brother is going to visit from America and she wanted to add him to her car insurance for a week.
They said if she adds him as a named driver for the year she saves £25 on the policy even if he hardly ever drives the car!
Crazy world we live in!

Statistically he lowers the risk of accidents as they see her as being high risk due to her age.
Myself and my partner have each other as named drivers as it saves us £300 a year. Insurance is an odd thing.0 -
Just double check the insurer have the correct details on your brother particularly residence and licence details as insurers don't normally like non UK residence or licences.
DiL came over from Austria, (so EU licence) and we found it was cheaper for her to hire a car for a week than it was to add her to our insurance.0 -
Checked and insurance know he now lives in USA. He has a clean UK driving licence and Passport.0

Strange but true, adding named drivers often reduces premiums and this is a must for young drivers.Je suis sabot...0
