Yes I provided fit notes with my application

Is this in response to my question? Fit note is only stating that your GP signed you off work, not that you are so ill despite various treatments offered that you are incapable of working.

What was the disability you had when you last claimed DLA? Was this linked to your depression? (Looked through some earlier posts)

No I was mauled by a dog that ripped both my hands to shreds, I had operations to repair nerves and tendons and couldn't do anything for myself for 3 months, that included using the toilet and bathing myself, that was last September

I was signed off jsa as I was too ill to work, I get ctc and cb but it doesn't cover food and bills

    do you have a partner?
do the tax credits people have your current income details?
if no working partner you should be receiving £210+ per week between tax credits and child benefit
Do you have a mortgage or are you renting? do you receive housing benefit? does it cover your rent?

No I don't have a partner, I rent my house and get hb, I have a lot of debts that I have to pay and 3 children to feed, I'm on a prepayment meter for gas and electric which adds debts on every week as well

What about 3 years ago when you claimed DLA? Is that in anyway related to your present illness?

My hands have almost recovered now and the claim isn't for them, my assessment for my last claim was at the end of last year and I found out I was refused around February time, I have a sever sleep disorder that affects my life every day which runs hand in hand with my depression, I'm now waiting to see a neurologist but there's a long waiting list

If your last decision was made in February then you will not be able to reclaim for 6 months from that date unless it is for a new condition.

Did you get your written statement of reasons for your refusal? Does it mention depression in there?

If there is no mention then get some advice from CAB about putting in a new claim.

Otherwise you will have to wait until the 6 months are up and claim JSA (get help from CAB if they refuse your claim) or Income Support if any children under 5.

As a single parent you should be claiming child tax credits, housing benefit and council tax reduction - you do not need to be on a benefit for these, just a low income. Plus, child benefit and child support from children's father.

If you are not receiving these then you need to do so immediately.

if you have debts and difficulty with budgeting then visit the Debtfree Wannabe board and look at the 'sticky' threads on the forum and find out where you can get free help with your debts. Lots of friendly people on that forum who are wonderful at helping with money problems.
