Quick eBay refund question?

Hey everyone,
Under a year ago I purchased a double bed wooden bed.
Up until now the bed has been good, apart from a persistent creak of which the origin was unknown until it was sat on and the entire side of the bed broke in two.
This rendered the bed useless and unable to support any weight.
I got in contact with the eBay sellers and basically said:
As this incident has damaged my trust in the products due to the extensive fault.
I was unwilling to accept the offer of a replacement part as the product was faulty and therefore a refund is due as per the consumer rights specifically being 'fit for purpose and last a reasonable length of time'
I've tried getting a refund but I don't really know how to go about it next, I'd like a refund as it's lasted under a year and I do not trust them.
Cheers in advance for your help and advice!

In this case you probably won't get a refund, while the bed does have to last a reasonable length of time and you can request your preferred remedy the seller has the right to offer a repair, replacement or a refund depending on which is most cost effective for them. As long as they are offering one of the remedies they are doing everything they have to do.
As it is over six months since purchase they could get petty and make you get an independent engineers report stating that it is a manufacturing defect and not down to misuse/neglect. If the report goes in your favour they also have to reimburse you for the cost of the report. If it doesn't go in your favour then you are out of pocket for the report and the bed.
You'd be better off just accepting the repair at this stage.0
