orange reserve tank !!!

Hi, I dunno if anyones posted this but I'm really miffed about Orange not disclosing the T&C on this 'new' service.
They plug it as access to an extra £2.50 credit when you need it and then you pay it back the next time you top-up, which in itself is reasonable idea.
What they don't tell you is that the first time you come to use it, you get a message saying you have to text the word BUY to a certain number and they take a one off payment of £1 off your credit(assuming you have £1 left at that time) and then any call you make is 20% more expensive than usual!
it seems to me that if you only had £1 credit you would either send a text or ring the person and ask them to ring you back (if they could).
But if its that important theres always 0800reverse in a phone box!!!
Think Orange are being a bit sneaky here???!!!!

On the 'catchy' ad on the telly with the annoying ditty, it does say about the calls in the reserve tank being more expensive in tiny little writing at the bottom. Not sure if it says about the £1 tho!?0

Hope you are joking there ! a one minute call using 0800 reverse costs £3.46, admittedly, you aren't paying it though.0 -
I'm speaking as a mum here...I know its not cheap to call home using 0800etc but imagine you are a youngster and you are relying on the fact that you have always got this 'reserve tank ' to fall back on. if you find yourself needing call home urgently, you try to activate the reserve tank and you get told that you need to a £1 credit to pay for the activation. but you haven't got £1 credit left.
If you had a £1 credit you could call home or text someone to call you back, you wouldn't need the reserve! it just seems a bit misleading to me.
Personally I would rather my child made an emergency call with 0800reserve than think they can't get hold of me if they needed me. An emergency is exactly that!doing what I do best...trying!!-- lainey :j

Trouble is, your kids version of an emergency is likely to be, "can you record Neighbours for me ?"
Agree with your general comments though, when I first saw the ad I thought it was a bit misleading.0 -
hi guys, thanks for the replies, I do have a couple of things to say though...
Moonraker, I pay all the bills in my house so if my DD made an 0800reverse call I would be paying for it and as I said I would rather she did that than be stranded without a means of calling me ! Also my 18 yr-old 'kid's' version of an emergency would be " I've missed the last bus and I can't get a taxi" ( I hope she never gets in a worse scrape than that!) not something as trivial as recording a soap.doing what I do best...trying!!-- lainey :j

If your kids are that perfect, why are you worried about them running out of credit in their mobile !
