Refusing a repair at Argos?

I bought a tablet from Argos on the 16th June '13 and it has developed a fault that started gradually (battery issues). I would say this is a pretty serious fault now. I've recorded the fault for evidence and can confidently say this isn't usable.
After 30 days Argos policy says they will send it off to be repaired (or if that's not possible, exchange, or..refund),
is there anyway I can refuse this repair?
thanks, bc

Yup, they can choose to repair, replace or refund. You can specify a preference, but essentially it's their choice.
Had you acted sooner you'd have had more rights.
With regards to using it for work, that's irrelevant to them as you bought it as a consumer.0 -
Thanks MamaMoo, I want an exchange for a different item, but I'm going to ask for a refund first so that my real preference seems like negotiation... muaha mind tricks
but seriously, thanks0 -
It's not a negotiation Argos have a policy on electrical goods, it will be sent for repair or replacement, only if neither are available will you get a refund.0

What's the point of asking on here if you know what you're going to do anyway?
As above, they'll send it for repair - it's not the store's descision.
Also, they sell as a consumer product (so not relied upon for business), so you can't expect them to take that into account.
The typical tablet user would use it for casual browsing, not rely on it for business. Don't you have a laptop or PC you can use? If not, it's a bit of an oversight relying on a tablet.0
