Given that OP posted his request for advice three days ago, and hasn't been back since, I think it s safe to say that none of us will ever get to the bottom of this one....I'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.0

FBR, with whom I am taking issue here is hardly saying 'Of course you should hear what they have to say about it' are they? If they did, I would not think it necessary to expand the point. In fact, they have thanked you for your point, rather than making the clarification. Which seems strange.I can't believe that you would think anyone on here would suggest sacking the person without being sure that the person had lied and had caused trouble with customers and other staff!You might as well ask the Wizard of Oz to give you a big number as pay a Credit Referencing Agency for a so-called 'credit-score'0 -

The employee was not happy about having their behaviour questioned. OP is now in hospital.0 -

There needs no clarification as the OP was quite clear that they HAD lied not that they THOUGHT they had lied. Which is the same point that Moji made which is why I thanked them for making that point.Sanctimonious Veggie. GYO-er. Seed Saver. Get in.0 -

However clear OP is that the employee has lied, OP has still not given any indication that they have spoken to the employee. Not challenging the employee about the matter is to ignore the source which has the most potential to give a different picture. Albeit the employee could lie some more, they could also tell some truths that had not been taken into account. They are more or less the same issue, just a question of how far in you go with it. OP has expressed some doubt about their own handling of the matter. So a reminder to talk with the employee is a totally valid point to make. It allows OP to come to the point of being totally certain about what has gone on.
